The simple version
Pressure moves water. The membrane separates it.
Reverse osmosis uses household water pressure to move water across a semi-permeable membrane. Filtered water continues to the dedicated faucet. Concentrated reject water carries separated dissolved material to the drain.
Carbon filtration
Activated carbon targets chlorine taste, odour and other compounds based on the filter specification.
RO membrane
Water is pushed through the fine membrane, reducing dissolved solids and a broad range of dissolved substances.
Final polish
A post-filter refines taste before water reaches the slim dedicated faucet at your kitchen sink.
A point-of-use system
It filters the water you actually consume.
A whole-home treatment system processes every litre entering the house. Under-sink RO takes a narrower approach. It treats the cold water used for drinking and cooking at one selected sink. That makes the equipment smaller and keeps high-level filtration focused where it matters most to taste and daily convenience.
The system produces two streams: filtered product water and reject water. Recovery ratios vary by equipment design and incoming conditions. A modern tankless system can be more efficient and space-conscious than older storage-tank designs, but no RO system produces filtered water without some reject flow.
Filters are consumable components. Replacing them on schedule protects taste, flow and membrane life. Blink H2O includes the first year’s filters and explains the ongoing schedule at installation.

Why under the sink
The useful middle ground between a pitcher and a whole-home project.
Countertop pitchers are inexpensive, but their small cartridges and slow refill cycle can become frustrating for a household that fills bottles, cooks daily and uses filtered water in coffee equipment. Whole-home treatment can solve broader problems, but it costs more, uses more space and may be unnecessary when the goal is simply better water at the kitchen sink.
An under-sink reverse osmosis system sits between those choices. It stays out of sight, treats a useful volume and gives you a separate faucet without changing the main sink’s flow. You keep ordinary tap water for washing dishes and cleaning. The more thoroughly filtered stream is reserved for the water you consume.
That separation also helps replacement filters last for their intended purpose. You are not using fine filtration to rinse a frying pan or wash the floor. You are using it for the litres that matter most to taste and ingestion.
RO is not maintenance-free. Filters must be changed, the membrane eventually needs replacement and the process creates a reject-water stream. We explain those trade-offs before installation.
